Does what it says in the title... please do offer comments on how I could frame/crop/expose/compose/process better :)

Ok some thoughts on your shots are
#1 – too far to the left – may be better running into rather then out of the shot – but I know the problem – sitting waiting for ages and then the runner appears running far faster then expected…(the front runners run at sprint pace for most people)

#2 great idea but if you have the first runner as the focal point the others need to be more compressed behind him in otherworld’s you need to be further to the left…(he is running out of the frame – so your eye follows).
From your current position and angle if you had made the third person {16246] the focal point with {9** and {6** soft it may have worked better

#3 great – not much else to say – you nailed it {IMHO**

#4 great shot – you did what I think is important – you came down to the athletes level – but again you need the subject looking into rather then out of the frame – great timing though – love the expression

#5 a good idea – for me a tighter crop would work better – but I like tight crops…

All in all a good set of photos from a subject that is far harder then it looks till you try it (as is football / rugby)

Thanks very much, sporty! :D

Will certainly try and take on board such useful comments for the next time :)

I'm not sure ... I thought marathons would be hard as it's such a boring thing (person runs past ... another person runs past ... etc), whereas I thought rugby would be easy because there's so much going on. The fact that both are actually difficult is that in running you need to find excitement and action, whereas in rugby you need to isolate it! Very different techniques required, but both similarly tricky to achieve!
