Hi all,

I snapped this today. I'm not entirely sure how much i like it.
There is something there, but it doesn't feel quite right.

What do you think?
Is it for the bin?

Model: FinePix S6500fd

To be brutally honest the picture does not do much for me, I think it could be improved by cropping to just above his head thereby removing some of the blown out sky, I would also tweak the curves to give it a bit more oomph as it is a bit flat at the moment. I think he could have been positioned better and caught from a higher angle so you are not looking up his nose.

However, the overall impression I got when I first saw the image was that George has just been caught whilst getting jiggy with the tree.

The pose seems unatural (bordering on a bit weird LOL!) - a more natural stance of him leaning against the tree would work better. He has a tree growing out of his head which is never good :D , so a slight shift in angle round to the right a bit would have sorted that out. Try some different levels when you shoot - crouch down or get above the subject (it looks like their is a bit of a slope behind him so a more dramatic pose, may have been to shoot down).

It maybe salavageable with a tighter crop and a b&w conversion though - why not have a play around with it? Its in focus and his face is well exposed which is a big part of the battle, so makes an ideal candidate for a bit of PP.

I tried to make what Hacker said it was lacking, But couldn't do nothing about him getting jiggy with the tree.

gibbo - Your taking away to much of the picture there mate. To me, there is no meaning to that. Like if i didn't know what the original one looked like i would be saying "What is his arm doing? Where is his legs placed? You know what i mean??

You might have been better to go to ISO 100, faster shutter and use flash to fill and balance the background. The pose is a little uncomfortable too but it's kind of amusing. MAybe thats what was intended :-)
