Dead bunny in tree ?

Spotted this while Heron hunting last weekend, I had forgotten about it till now but it has got me wondering how and why it was there ?
Maybe a Bird of Prey left it there for later, I really don't know has anyone seen anything like this before ?

May also have been snared.
Rabbit or hare trips the snare and is hoisted to the tree to prevent it being eaten.
