Hi Folks,

Messing around with my D300 and asking for you to look at photos has reminded me of when I first bought my Fuji S3. Soon after I was on a break in St Ives in Cornwall in August 2005 and rose at 04:00 to go down the docks and take some photos of the sunrise.

Lens which is still in kit bag is a Nikon 70-300mm 4-5.6G

1. This was as I arrived on the docks and started to change various camera settings.
ISO 100
Focal length 18mm
Aperture f/3.6
Exposure 30 seconds at f/6.7

2. Similar location different settings:
ISO 100
Focal length 55mm
Aperture f/3.6
Exposure 20 seconds at f/6.7

3. My personal favourite and after taking photos of every fishing boat that went out.
ISO 100
Focal length 200mm
Aperture f/3.6
Exposure 1/125 seconds at f/11

Again OK with criticism. This was early days with cameras and after reading a lot of books and magazines. Unfortunately time constraints have meant most of what I learnt then I have forgotten now!

Chris

No 3 is superb. Nice silhouette boat. Nice tones. Really like that thin band of cloud the sun is dipping in to.

Hi All,

Many thanks for your comments. It means a lot because I was very new to photography at the time and had a great time taking the photos.

It did inspire me to get up early and take a lot more. However, as mentioned time restraints on my family and business life meant that I kept photography at bay for a while.

I now have a renewed passion with the arrival of the D300 and impending Daughter's wedding in May in Cyprus where I am the official photographer!

Regards

Chris

I really do not believe you needed someone else to tell you that these photos were good. Some people have the nack for photography and some don't, and you. You have
