Cracking shot!, shame about the jpeg artifacts when you saved/uploaded though. Would love to see a version without the jpeg compression :)

The castle, as the subject, is a tad dark and a teeny bit OOF. Your eyes are drawn to the rocks in the foreground.

Its a nearly, but not quite shot. (I've sooo many of those)

As stated great attempt and does stand as good shot but the castle is a little too dark.

thanks for your comment, it might be a tad bit dark but the forground leads you up to the castle from the rocks along the shore line to the castle. if you look at the sky it was dark! so it would look rather odd if i did curves or levels to brighten it up,it was like that when i took it.
Dont get me wrong i dont mind criticism at all from someone who has experience in the photography trade or pro in landscape. But i dont see any great shots in your gallery?

Now if you where joe cornish or lee frost etc..... But your not. Actually prove me wrong and post a fantastic Landscape! or any you have sold to the public! i have, have you?

Dude, put your todger away and stop waving it around. Nobody here really gives a stuff if you've sold prints or not and selling your work certainly doesn't give you carte blanche to rip somebody apart and neither does it mean that only people who sell stuff can comment on your shots. Especially when you invite comments from everybody. If anything, the general public are the people you should be listening to as they're the ones with the credit cards, skilled or not.

If you can't hack honest, subjective feedback then don't post stuff with "what do you think" in capitals across the top.

As for the shot itself, it's an average shot averagely executed imho. it's not level, the lichen on the rocks in the foreground is brighter than the subject and in better focus so holds your eye, despite the rocks leading you to the castle, which lacks punch and definition.

And yes, I sell my landscape work. In fact that and my property stuff is how I make my living.

I could not agree more.

Photography is subjective & everyone is entitled to their opinions (especially here when asked to give honest feedback) I will not hesitate to post comments on macro work even though I do not generally follow this route & have no experience of selling macro images.

We all play nice here & the professional photographers here mingle & offer advice same as everyone else - if you disagree with someones opinion then that is your choice & you may feel free to justify that to your hearts content. As Gandhi said though, please do not belittle others - opinions are given freely here & we will not be discouraging anyone from offering honest advice & opinions anytime soon.

What you think of it now?

You mean it???? :p;):lol::lol:

Well I do think there were issues with the original shot but I don't think that the solutions are in post process.

I really like the dark look and I like the idea of the rocks being the subject and the castle being a little softer in the background. My thoughts on it were that to really pull that off the foreground needs absolute perfect balance and attention to detail and I don't think this is quite there.

.... oh and as a general bit of advice, if you do want to sell shots, don't take my advice. What I like and what I sell seem to be getting further and further apart these days.

The focus of the picture is the sea and not the castle for me. I say go back and try again so the castle is the focus point.

Nope, not a pic I'd put on my wall. The lead up of the shoreline to the castle doesn't work for me, and the overshapened look of the castle doesn't help. Sorry, thanks for sharing, but its a subject that has had many good photos taken of it.

(PS - Yes I do sell photos and agree with Dazzaji, the ones that sell are often not the ones I like)

  Now he tells me :bonk::bonk::D

Got to agree with the other chaps though.....a little extra work on making the castle pop make a big difference.

Oh shut up, your shots are best part of perfect. :p

.... and actually you've reminded me, this is a perfect example of how to make the foreground really hold the scene when most people would just concentrate on the landmark.
