Both shots were in the late afternoon sun. I was a bit lucky with the first, as it had been dull all day, but there was a break in the clouds that gave me the final image, and the second, there was no cloud at all, so it was a case of waiting until the light was right

wow these are very red, slightly too red imho, or was that how it was ont he day?

They dont look overly red to me, more of a orange glow. umm yeh, its just as the sun was going to go down over the horizon, but still strong enough to light the subject nicely
