Indeed we do. Normally have a big tent and the flags up :D although I'm normally found further away snapping some shots.

We get special parking at Brands too :D

I always pay on the day as the saving isn't great for one ticket.

Kool its not that much I thought it would be more for some reason. So whats brands like for takin pics of the cars in action. It not like an F1 track with massive wire fences everwhere is it? I want to be at the side of the track nice and close so my 200 lens can get close enough

It really depends where you end up...but broadly speaking fences are present...but some places they are not.....on the inside of druids there are no horrible fences (obviously there are some)

You won't get that close, there are obviously fences around the curcuit for safety. I normally use a 300mm lens on a cropped body, with a 1.4x on it sometimes. But that equates to a 450-630mm lens on a full frame, sadly I can't afford a 500mm lens so the 300 will have to do

I actually find Thruxton for one of the best tracks for me.

Yup, I will be at this as Superstat has said.

Druids is usually the best spot for the action but the downside is its always busy so you need to get a good spot. I've never been on the inside of druids though so might try to get some shots from there.

Shots from the inside of druids are fairly good in terms of the fence is low but they all come out a little samey....

I use a 100-400 on a 40D and seems to work fine for me. Although this will depend massively on track positioning. Problem I have at this event is that the 100-400 may not be available to use (family using it, possibly) so I am in a sticky mess....have considered renting from lensesforhire but am unsure of what one to get really...

I've just looked through some previous shots and 200mm is going to need an extender...or a hallowed press pass :-D

I'm often on the infield at Druids and although I've never done BTCC before (I'm a bike fan) I quite fancy it this year.

I'm quite sure that 200mm will be enough at Druids, as bikes fill the frame with my 300mm on a crop body. Is it on the full GP circuit ? If so, Westfield may be another option.

I was considering going on the Saturday as the crowds won't be as big and you get the chance of some decent "one car" shots. Anybody ever been on the Saturday ?

However, I must get my panning technique up to scratch first.

I quite agree regarding the 200mm on inside of druids...

Well my 200mm is on a 400D (can't remember how the maths works) so I have abit more than 200 technically.

I went to the Renualt world series last year at Donnington and it was great for taking pictures down at the S's corner.

I want to go on more racing events as I love motorsport and take my camara so I like to know if the tracks are camera friendly so I dont get there expecting some ace pictures and can't take them. I will still enjoy the racing but it will take away part of the weekend if I can't take pics. I really want to get into the race event sort of photography one day I just need to know how to get in and get the job :p
