View Full Version : Fast Reply Problems
Using the fast reply option, as soon as I go to post I get a message saying I'm not logged in so can't perform that function - and even after logging in again and trying a second time it logs me out and gives me the same message (can do a screen print if necessary).
I'm fine if I use the standard reply, it's just fast reply! I'm still operating on Windows ME and a fairly old browser which doesn't support the latest javascript - is that likely to be the culprit?
Ideas?
Have you tried clearing your cookies?
(the internet ones :D)

Hello.
No, javascript isn't likely to be the problem as you have exsplained it.
As Mattyh said above, try cleaning out your cookies. Don't eat them its not good for you :)
Also get red of website history.
I am at work so i can't really look in to this problem deeply but if it is still like it when i get home, i'll see what i can do for you
Cleared cookies, temporary internet files (inc offline content), history, URL bar and search strings, to no avail.

Ah well, I'll stick to standard reply!
Just discovered I have the same problem when it comes to editing posts too! Doh.
Thanks for the help though.

I think it is because my head hasn't seen a pillow in the last, erm lets see.. coming up to 20 hours. DOH DOH DOH!! I have been a sleep though, just in a car at work. But shush, don't tell me boss please :)
No doubt some brain box will be able to help you on here
:waves:
Its most likely to be Java I think.
The quick edit and quick reply functions use AJAX, which is built around Java.
Even though youre still using Windows ME, can you not upgrade to the latest IE, or even a later version of Firefox?
AJAX has nothing to do with Java, sorry Marcel. It's all Javascript, which while it might sound related, actually has nothing to do with Java :D
Yours,
A Java and Javascript programmer :)
P.S. Sorry ... wouldn't normally say anything, but it's a personal soapbox issue!
Aha! Consider me duly corrected :$

botty??
I think Firefox got the most used/quickest brower and most downloads.
Get firefox and see if that helps, It works all the time on mine

Considering how one is made up from the name of the other, it's anything but dumb to assume that. Not to mention the syntax is similar in many ways. Definitely similar enough to sit there scratching your head, trying to work out why the code won't compile when it looks fine, simply because you've got Javascript in there, not Java! :bonk:
Cookies are enabled as far as I'm aware, will double check though.
Can't upgrade to any other browser, computer is shared with my parents and my dad is determined that we use the crappy old btinternet browser, DOH. I'll just have to use standard reply and make sure I don't make any typos
I'm counting down the days until I can get a laptop...:bonk:
Thanks anyway though!
You can install firefox as a secondary browser, just don't make it the default one. you can use kick-ass firefox and they can use btintnet... everyone's a winner :D
You don't have to lose one browser to install another non-IE one. They can still use the BT browser unaffected, while you use Firefox :)
Haha, believe me, I've already suggested it. But my dad is remarkably stubborn, even when his logic makes no sense  Don't ask...it's easier just to sit tight and wait until I have my own! It's only 6 months to go....

Parents can be like that. I think you are doing the right thing. :)
Why not install firefox portable onto a USB stick? :)
