Ok so we have the sticky about the trader feedback which thankfully is coming out pretty much positive.
There seems to be an increasing amount of disgruntled buyers out there, though. From not only Ebay
So Mods how a "bad trader" or "beware of trader" sticky type thingy?

I guess if you put something like
"the opinions of the poster is not necessarily the opinions of TP" that should cover your collective asses?

Cobra, that's a very good idea :)

why not a general trader thread, for good and bad traders. It seems unfair that only bad traders get a mention, good traders don't get written about as much :)

Good idea though cobra

Sometimes two sides to every story and sometimes the buyer isn't quite as honest in his story as he could be. Anyone should be given the right to reply.

I'd agree with that, I bought a phone on another forum, found out it was barred so sent it back, seller supposedly sent a cheque which never arrived then he told the forum i'd cashed it and I was a liar

In 10 years of trading on forums he was the only scumbag i've ever come across.

i'd expect there to be 100 positive trades for every negative

There is this thread (http://www.talkphotography.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?t=27790&highlight=trader+feedback)started by Hacker but it seems to be mostly members and mostly positive. Which is great news for all concerned and I am not knocking it in the slightest

I was more concerned about "other traders" mostly ebay or web based that people have had hassle with or even been downright ripped off by.
There are more and more thread running along these lines I just thought it would be a good idea to put it all together

Excellent idea, and should definitely be implemented!.

Well a few of us think so at least but I guess its doomed to remain embryonic without "admin" support.
Ah well back to the drawing board :D

Not necessarily. As long as admin don't actively go against it there's no reason not to start a thread (can't see any reason for them to be against it rly, so long as it's basic and not agressive etc).

Andrewc has it, while it's perfectly ok to post about a problem you're having, people do have a tendency to colour the details to suit themselves, possibly giving someone a bad reputation needlessly.

I vote no for that reason and also because negativity is not what these forums are about.

We do this on a forum on which I am a SMOD and it stops the forum getting in trouble with libel issues as we have had issues with companies claiming defamation. A blanket stickie or announcement across the forum should do it stating that the opinions enclosed herein are the opinions of the members and not those of the forum owner.

I agree in part Steep that some negativity may well be OTT
but going along those lines were are only permitted to post "good feedback" and not negative?
Jeeze I just re-read that sounds like an advert for Ebay :D
The poster should be /I would hope they would be objective in their complaints rather than whinging for the sake of it.

We've not ignored this thread ;) We are discussing it.
I think it wouldn't be too bad, if it was just for shopping feedback, either good, neutral, or bad, and it ONLY relates to an experience, not just opinion. If a post is factual, and not of opinion, then libel would be a harder case to prove.

Naturally, we have a few things to think about (as a forum), and at the moment, we have no problem with people starting a tread about their bad experiences (eg the 7dayshop thread etc). But one particular thread specifically for bad experiences would actually encourage and attract people to posting in it IYSWIM, and maybe for the wrong reasons?

Would a trader ratings system work more effectively? Obviously Ebay works this way, but it is widely used by other fora too.

That would be for traders on *this* forum, for which we have an (albeit simple) current system.

This is for shopping experiences out there in the big wide world :)

Yes, I realised that (poor sentence composition, I see now) - I figured we could do the same thing for retailers, compiling the list as we go?

Thanks for jumping in Marcel,
We have the trader / trades (TP) thread A Kerso thread all generally positive.
I have posted negative things about one or two traders and so have others.
There is as you say the 7dayshop thread.
I just thought to "colate" all the info into one thread. So anyone can go find a trader in the
"naughty boys section" Rather than hunt around or say "I wish someone had said that earlier before I paid"
I take your point about people just Posting for the "sake of it"
But you would have to make a point ( rule?) it was purely for experiances not just opinions, if that makes sense?

Just to update you - I've given this some thought - and to be honest, I'd like to change my vote and side with Steep.

Whilst the intentions are entirely laudable and from the right angle - I suspect that it'll get mis-used (both intentionally and unintentionally) and I think it'd be more misleading if it was there :)

Just my (further) tuppence worth! :)

I agree with the above, but I think there should be a thread specifically about bad deals/trading. I can see where you're coming from regarding people jumping on a bandwagon, or just adding 2 penneth where it really isn't needed. But it would be beneficial for the members to have a place where they can (within the realms of actual experience) warn other members about where NOT to send their money, and exactly why (in their own experience).
