Hi Pete,

I take it you have used natural light only?

Quick question is the lady a muslim? If so you may want to re consider putting the picture on here. It can be seen as a major insult if others see the bride outside of the wedding party!

Just in case anyone wants to clarify my qualifications on this matter, I taught Arabs electronics for two years. My Girlfriend went to a few weddings and I was not allowed as a Male and not being one of the family.

Regards

Chris

Hi Chris,

It was available light plus fill flash.

And no Sophia is not muslim, she's actually Sikh so no problems there.

Since this is in critique I'd better find something wrong with it ;) seriously it's a great picture except maybe a bit over exposed, particularly on her left hand side. Obviously this was through the harsh window light but I reckon a bit of tweaking would improve matters.

Hi Chris, thanks for the comment. I'm moving into wedding photography yes, I'm still building up the experience but loving doing them.

Thanks, I'll have a play around with it tonight. I thought the same about the exposure myself but haven't had time to sit down and concentrate on it for a bit to see how it could be tweeked.

Very nice shot of a beautiful bride.

It's not sitting very comfortably in the frame for me though, with her eyes being so close to the left of the frame, and all the space behind her on the right does is tend to make the eye wander around the back of her.

A suggested crop which I feel looks better.

You might just as well go with the full white background and get rid of that distracting curtain, which I've done here. Having changed the background to just white, it's easy to use a selective mask to bring the background contrast a bit more under control.

All that jewellery, nice as it is, is very sharp, and detracting from what should be the main feature of interest - those eyes! While the lady has far from bad skin, a little selective softening doesn't go amiss and concentrates the attention where you want it. Modern lenses can be uncomfortably sharp for photographing brides this close up. ;)

So a second suggestion for you with a selective feathered mask used to soften everything but the eyes...

Just ideas for you for what is a lovely image anyway.

Lovely photo, however on my monitor it looks overexposed. A 5 sec adjustment in PS gave the following which I prefer:

Nice image.

Agree with other comments....a little overexposed maybe. I would also like to see the colour saturation increased a little.

Good luck with the weddings...I love them!

I think the sharpness with the skin in the original is fantastic! A case of excellent makeup as opposed to out-comes-the-airbrush!
