Ok, while browsing the forum I seen a post about what lens to take to Iceland.

That got me thinking that the holiday location might be some what different to the norm, if good photo's were on the agenda.

So if you were allowed, could afford etc to go to any place in the world to take some pictures where would it be, and what would you be going there for to capture?

:)

I love the Unipart Calendar that Patrick Lichfield shot back in the 70's so I'd go to Russia and try to capture some of that.

I'd love to go back to Sri Lanka with a decent camera. I took a few shots when I went on honeymoon there (which you can see here (http://www.zombiesheep.co.uk/album/thumbnails.php?album=2)), and a lot more when I went out doing relief work after the tsunami.

I love the country, but I won't be able to go back for a while, amongst other reasons because of the continued threat of violence between the government and the Tamil Tigers (LTTE).

Shame.

Sri Lanka would be fantastic. I'm going to Goa in October.

For me it would be the Alps. I toured there last summer and was captivated...

I'd love to do a San Francisco to Las Vegas with lots of snowboarding stops on the way.

I'd also like to go back to Iceland, but with a proper camera set up, rather than the compact I had with me when I went before, the scenery there is stunning!

Absolutely anywhere - provided the light was just right at that time. I always seem to arrive the day after the perfect sunset, or the day after the scaffolding was erected, or the day before the flowers are at their peak etc, etc, etc.

The other thing is to be in the right place with all the right kit - something else I have problems with cos I try not to carry too much. :bang::bang::bang:

Some rather interesting choices.

Japan for me would be high on the list, having been there last year I felt that there was so much more to see, even though I went to quite a few places it was just too short a visit.

Highlight for me was seeing the sunrise from the top of Mt Fuji, shame I bought the 40d the day before I went home. :bang:

Never been to Japan, but it does sound an amazing place to visit, as does China, so many places to visit though lol Australia and New Zealand are also on the list, furthest East i have been so far is Austria, not very far lol furthest west is Seattle and Vancouver. So still have a lot of the world to see :)

I'd love to go to the Galapagos Islands as they have so much to offer in terms of wildlife.

I'd also like to go to Easter Island, to see the statues - must be some great photo opportunities there.

Finland, photographing Lynx, Wolves, Bears and Owls. Either that or somewhere with a lot of human hardship and emotions like Afghanistan or Chechnya.

New Zealand, South island. Oh I've already booked 2 weeks in August!!! Can't wait to get back there, was there in 2005 but was traveling so only had my point and shoot.

My girlfriend and I toured New Zealand's South Island for three weeks last Nov/Dec. This was a holiday and not a photo shoot, so photography did not take priority over simply sightseeing and enjoying the trip. We drove around 4,000km and took nearly 3,000 photos. We've kept about 400 for our home slideshow. Stunning scenery and great wildlife was all around. The problem is that the weather cannot be relied upon so getting those perfect "calendar" shots is not so easy.
