My dad says its some strange Hybrid bird, possibly from someones collection or from a foreign country. Good captures though(why is "t h o" blocked out)? =] kk lol
:thumbs:Thanks Tom and dad.
I was beginning to suspect it was a hybrid because there is nothing like it in my ever growing collection of bird books.
Nice looking thing though isn't he?

Muscovy duck?
Indeed it is!!! Theyre quite common in the right places :)
Thanks Purple and Veracocha.
I had looked at the Muscovy in one of my books, but the picture looked quite a bit different.
I suppose like a lot of birds, there are many variations.

Beaten or not, identifying a species can be difficult going so well done on googling. I have a lot of books to fall back on and use Google just to confirm my findings.
Today for the first time I came across a Goldfinch in my garden, over the moon but the shot was poor.
Yup, definitely a muscovy duck (female) they come in many different colours and the drakes also have a lot more of the red around their faces. Have very sharp claws and will often roost in trees .

Goldfinches are really nice looking birds for how common they are, on some days we must have excess of 20 in our back garden and in the neighbouring trees. :)
