Well Ive just finished the images so you all can see what the fuss is about.

The more I use this lens the more I love it. The bigma has been made redundent to walk around lens.

Skywatcher ed80/600 f7.5 pro O.T.A

this image shows it all connected together what a beast

http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a166/madas/40dconnectedhowlong.jpg

The focuser is all the way out which is at its C.F.D with the adapter of 21ft.
Also notice the grayford focuser this is done by friction and not the wobbly (rack and pinion) very smooth.

http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a166/madas/40dconnectedhowlong2.jpg

The rear end, I dont quite know how aperture's work on scope, but I supose the f/no. comes from 80 in 600= 7.5 but the apature is bigger than that? 2"

http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a166/madas/lensapature.jpg

The important bit, doublet ed glass flp53 and this makes a lot of difference.

(I was going to get the f5 150/750 refractor which cames with motor triopd but I stopped myself no ed glass).

are the bits that makes it all work, camera adapter also known as prime focus
tube etc.

Note on this image far right, eos m42 adapter then a little t-monunt then tube and finally the direct slr mount which came with the scope.

http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a166/madas/adapter.jpg

are you still with me good, next.

I dont now if I've done this next test right but it shows the D.O.F This was 600mm C.F.D 21ft on the ruler the 20cm mark is in focus so not a lot really.

How sharp I hear you say, well this next image will answer that I can say nothing else on the matter.

And finally, what's it all about to get image of birds or other wildlife.

This image was with the 2xtc and 50mm extention tube + camera adapter.

All this for £295!

is that 295 quid for everything needed to take pics ?

Do you know what sort of magnification you are getting ? it seems more than 600mm worth if you know what i mean ? :)

That looks awesome ... :suspect: ... even if a bit complicated ... :D ... and great results although I'm not sure the Goldfinch's eye is quite sharp ...

I've been gob smacked with the images you've managed to get with this lens Jason. I was very sceptical tbh when you first announced it, but you've got some remarkable shots.

You're not getting the fine resolution and detail you would with a camera lens designed for the job, but far, far better than I ever expected.

I now know what to buy for mine .I t was the bits at the camera end which were
confusing me. Sorted now , and it looks like i will be spending more cash now.:'(
Thanks for the heads up on the gear.

Good job! I've been thinking about doing something like this myself but know almost nothing about spotting scopes/telescopes. Seeing what you've acheived I tihkn I may have a go with a simular project.

thanks guys

worth every penny it seems....that last shot is cracking!! what was in the background??

the horrible bricks from my house .as ive moved all my set up so to have the sun behind me in the summer/winter months i no longer have the trees as my b/g

£295 for the pro kit and then about £50 for the adapters
magnification ? im used to the bigma and although this is ment to be 500mm it's actualy about 465 ish so this seems and lot longer. perhaps we could do a test of the same object at the same distance.

That looks awesome ... :suspect: ... even if a bit complicated ... :D ... and great results although I'm not sure the Goldfinch's eye is quite sharp ...

it not complicted i treat as a normal lens everthing is set up ready to go.

no the 2xtc is a teleplus for af canon you can either tape the pins or remove them to get the camera not to error.

Good job! I've been thinking about doing something like this myself but know almost nothing about spotting scopes/telescopes. Seeing what you've acheived I tihkn I may have a go with a simular project.

hope it works out for you

Hmmm just thinking if this provides greater mag than a true 600 lens it may be ideal to get some half decent pics of The Falcons :) without blowing a huge wad on it if you see what i mean :)

useing my 1000mm 8" f5 refractor for astro images
gave me the idea and as i used to to digiscoping (birds scope cp4500 which was very slow and puting all the parts needed for a image was a pain si i desided to go slr and a cheep lens to star with (bigma) 4 years later i finaly have the 600mm and some desent reach.

many thanks
