After some scenery help

Hi all. It's my Dad's 67thbirthday/retirement ( semi, at least) coming up. My Mum has mentioned that she'd like to buy my dad a picture of his favourite place, maybe even a canvas stretch thing. I rather stupidly mentioned I'm sure I can take a snap and have it put onto canvas ( sure a trader on here can do it). Now, the problem is my lack of skill, scenery isn't something I've ever tried to shoot before. I get the general idea but I'm a little unsure of whether my tiny array of lenses are up to the job. Would it be worth taking a shot with my kit lens? :thinking:
