Finally found a canvas Man Bag I like for street togging.
It's a WWII gas mask bag

It is almost as if the bag was made for being a Camera Bag

Nice bag (although it does need a dewrinkle :D)...?
 ... what do you expect ... :suspect: ... it has been through WWII after all ... ... and survived without any sign of a dirty mark, bullet hole, blood 'n guts or anything at all ... amazingly good nick for something that old ... :D
So ... cool bag m8 ... where from and how much ... ;)

Any asbestos particles left in it from the gas mask!
Shall we call you Indy now?
Been thinking of getting one of these myself, may i ask where you got it?
Buggar, where did you get it from and how much....
I needed one of those a couple of weeks ago for an Indiana Jones fancy dress outfit I worn, could find one of those so had to resort to an ex-army ammo bag. :'(:(
I remember using one of these haversacks we called them as a schoolbag back in the fifties, not a gay thing then as the gay word had'nt been hijacked then,

I've tried to iron it with my steam iron and it appears to be a bit less crinkled but I suspect that as it has been stored in a creased state for over 65 years, I think it may take a while to get it right ;)

I got it from here (http://www.surplusandoutdoors.com/ishop/877/shopscr2222.html) £19.99. Mine is dated 1942, and as sold appears unissued (it even still has string attached, I presume to keep it from swinging as you run ).
For those wanting to be Indiana Jones it is the MKVII as used in the films, all you need for a perfect match is the Leather Strap to replace the canvas cord but you'll need to google for those. Though call me sad I do have one on order from the US (£12 delivered excluding any duty / VAT)
It has some fantastically useful pockets in it, other than the telephoto lens pocket there is one perfctly sized to take a compact camera, one for lens / body caps or even memory cards and another for a small notbook or filters in boxes. The main body holds a D80 or D200 inc grip without lens with space for a standard zoom standard prime on top.
Unfortunately for some reason there doesn't seem to be a mobile phone sized pocket. I'm guessing the War Office clairvoyants that foresaw the sizes of Japaneese digital camera kit didn't see the invention of the mobile phone

And as for mobile phone pocket ... :suspect: ... isn't that one underneath your TP Neck Strap then ...

Mark, indeed that is the site (although the actual online order page is here (http://onlinemilitaria.net/shopexd.asp?id=2251&bc=no))
Ven, that small pocket is only just big enough for a Nikon rear lens cap (or if you smoke a Zippo Lighter) :p

Thanx again Simon ... ... mine arrived this morning would you believe ... ...
... although not identical to yours by the look as mine doesn't have the Green inner lining ... :shake: ... :'(
AND ... :suspect: ... the damn leather straps are out of stock ...
Never mind ... must just keep an eye on replenishments ... :D
You can actually buy the bag and straps together on the last site you linked us to ... ... when they've got the straps ... ;)

Love the shameless plug for the TP Strap, must get round to organising one of those after I've sorted out another kit bag and got my new pc sorted out when it arrives.

 I hope mine is one the way. It certainly let me order it at the time which it won't let me do now, however, the site appears to say they have a stock of -4
Got my bag through today, fantastic condition to say its around 66 years old.
Looking forward to trying it out.

I qute fancy the last one on this page, very cheap but looks a bit like a camera bag though.
