I have not given much of a description of the photos, I think most will know the views.

I went to Egypt in 1995 I can honestly say it's the best holiday I've ever had

I like 1 and 2 with 2 being my favourite, the shadow in the left of the Sphinx photo is a bit distracting but focus and exposure look spot on.

I bet those 2 in picture 1 were over trying to sell you a camel ride 10 seconds after the photo was taken

Nice shots, you were lucky getting an interesting sky to boot.
Looking good!

Hope you don't mind but they seemed a little flat. Had a wee play around. :)

gman the photos weren't that flat. And all you have done is made them very saturated especially in the blue. The originals are miles better.
I think you must be looking on a uncalibrated and dark monitor

Shot one and two may need brightening a tad, number 3 is great love that one. .. Gman the colour change is too much for me for the first two, I like both the original and the remix of the last shot :D

Thanks for the comments guys

wack61, I know what you mean, I want to go back already so much more to see, actually we were on a camel ride when I took these..:)

onefivenine, when we set off in the morning there was a very think mist/haze so I was pleased with the sky once the sun had burnt most of it off.

gman, thanks for trying to enhance the shots mate but I think you may have a monitor callibration problem as photoguy has mentioned ... unless mine is out .. lol

pirate neilsouth , thanks for the heads up i did darken the images a bit to bring out the clouds i must have go overboard a bit

Like the first set the best, the haze in the first one really sets it off I think. Nice skies to boot too.

What I found hard to believe is how CLOSE Cairo is.
From our hotel swiming pool we could see all the pyramids ... that was something else.

Great set of shots

Wow, I love number 2. My Auntie went not so long ago. Metioned a lot of security around the pyramids.

You did well with the Sphinx shot - there were about a million tourists swarming around when I was there - (and a Kentucky across the road!!)

There really is something special about those pyramids though, isn't there? Loved Egypt though - great place.

oldgit, yes we had a pyramid view also we stayed in giza at the, le meridian pyramids. awesome hotel

matt, yes there was loads of security every were you went not just the pyramids.

hermie, thanks yes I was trying to get just the sphinx without the peeps, out of the shots I took this was one of the quieter ones..:)

From afar the Pyramids look tiny - here's a little shot taken from the foot of the biggest. Just for interest. (Taken on a carppy little camera so any critique would be scathing!) :D

I got a few feet in and a massive wave of claustrophobia overtook me. Dank air, narrow tunnel bend right over to shuffle along it......NO, THANK YOU!:gag: I was outta there like a shot!

Huge respect for the buildings though - an incredible feat all those years ago.

archaeologists believe Stonehenge was built around the same time  10 big stones V the Pyramids Hmmm

Was it just Cairo you went to, did you go to the museum.

when I went we hadn't intended to go to Cairo as it was a 2 week holiday in Luxor, after we'd seen what was in Luxor we had to go to Cairo so took a 1 day excursion organised by the hotel, it was expensive at £350 each but to this day I consider it worth every penny

me and a couple of mates went for a week we had 3 days at cairo and then an internal flight to luxor so spent the rest of the week there

yes we did the museum :)

the guide showed me tutankhamuns camp bed it folds up and has hinges.. i bought one last year and its fell apart already

there is still paint or dye on the karnac temple i know its not dulux but hell how could it last that long

the mind boggles

Sorry, but using the standard sRGB profile, the shots do look kind of dimmed on my monitor.
I've also checked their histograms and it confirms that I'm not seeing things.
Perhaps viewing them in daylight makes the difference.
The first one gman edited might have been pushed a bit too much, but they look better than the originals posted.
No. 2 is just a quick fix with auto levels.

That said, it's just matter of levels / curves, otherwise they're very nice :)

The originals look realistic. Those who have been will know what I mean. I prefer them that way. :)

hia slapo

yes i think we could talk about what is pleasing to one eye and not the other for quite a while , my monitor has never been calibrated with the proper kit so i might be out a bit , i adjusted levels to what pleased me having said that i have a lot to learn..:)

thanks dave

i have looked at the originals to see if i went overboard and i am surprised to see i didnt alter things that much really

I'm off to Luxor and Cairo in October for the 3rd time in 2 years, we have fallen in love with the country. Ells, did you go in and see the Solar Boat at the back(?!?) of the Great Pyramid?4,500 years old, held together by grass ropes and looks more seaworthy than many of the craft you see plying the Nile today! Here's a shot of it taken in 2006 with my son's P&S (I won't forget to pack the camera bag into the car for the airport ever again!)

Went to Egypt in 2006 and it was the most amazing holiday I have ever had.
Unfortunately there was scaffholding around the Sphinx at the time.

Lovely shots... brought back memories for me too... we went in 1984. I rode a camel up to the Pyramids (well you have to dont you! ;) ) and spent the night in agony from flea bites on my legs!! :gag:

Cruise up the Nile at night was a bit special too. :woot:

Very nice shots... glad you had a good time.

Nice shots Ells. My favourite is no. 1 but I would crop some of the sand at the bottom of the shot and smiggin from the left just to remove the object from the left hand edge.
Now you've got me hunting for cheap hol's to Egypt so as to get me some shots like that!:D
