Got the lens yesterday, so had a tootle to a deer park in Yorkshire today for a test run.

Must say I'm pleased with the performance.

All at ISO 200, tripod mounted.

* When shooting stacked TC's I expected my max aperture to be F8, I was shooting at f5.6, am I missing something?

Wow, excellent shots, especially the bird shot - just for the extreme sharpness and the 'razors' on the bill. Good stuff.

Lovely shots Les - nice lens.

I'm sure the effective f siop is down to the camera only detecting (and reporting) one TC - either the one closest to the lens or the one closest to the camera but I can't remember which.

If this a test run I cant wait for the good ones :D
Wow very sharp even with the TC`s on. Very nice shots Les
Are they more or less straight from camera ??

RE: * When shooting stacked TC's I expected my max aperture to be F8, I was shooting at f5.6, am I missing something? I think it is down to the lack / intensity of light reaching the cameras sensor. Im sure I read this somewhere

All had slight crops except the stacked TC shot.

Then usual tweaks (levels/saturation/usm etc)

Nice shots Les, it does look like a good lens. I had one of the pre-DG versions and was never quite happy with it, may have had a bad copy. I now have the Sigma 300 prime and I think it is great.

CT is right about the teleconverters. When stacked, only one reports. However, since you are using TTL metering, the exposure is still correct and is actually at f/8.

Nice, looks like you'll be having some fun with that. As said, pretty impressive for a zoom and both TCs.
