I attended the Stevenage studio session on Sunday, which was my first serious attempt with portraits. I've been working through all the shots I took, and am very pleased with these two...

I'd like some C&C (just to bring me back down to earth !)

Only real PP work was to use Hackers "guide to make those eyes pop" and I added a little colour to her lips as she wasn't wearing any lip gloss and they looked a little flat.

Well it's a style of portrait that I like lots. Not everyone suits such intimate and up close shots but these work well for me.

If I was going to pick a little, I would say that her hair in the 2nd shot should either cover her eye or not.

Nice photo's, on my monitor which is not calibrated No. 1 looks the best, the blacks are stronger on the pupils and eye lashes and I like the crop / framing more.

But that's only my opinion.

Very nice mate. :)

I would like to see a little bit more contrast in the second one - especially around the girls left eye (right hand side as you look at it). Apart from that I can't fault them. :)

I like them too :) Number one for me, but I would clone out the stray hairs on her head.

And I am with dazzaj on the second, not sure if the hair over her eyes works or not, lovely model though :)

Tack sharp all the way. Nice reflections in eyes. Agree with the hair comments, but, its those small imperfective details that make it beautiful and more life like. To me, a studio portrait comes to life when there is emotion seen in the eyes and face, and, what emotion there is can sometimes be list if you go fixing every last little detail.

I really like the first one, and infact all of them.

Nice one!

#1 for me too out of this set. I know we dont usually comment on the models, but this young lady has the perfect face and is able to put on a fabulous expression for such close up portrait shots.

Good shots, and well done the model too.

I really like the first one, but the second looks in need of a sharpen and bit of contrast. Nice shots!

Jelster - just an afterthought, but how about warming up the skin tones just slightly in number 1?
It seems the expression and emotion would be better suited?
Just an idea!
