well, I did my first Christening at the weekend - seemed to go well. Was a bit of a baptism (no pun intented!) of fire as I was shooting in manual for the first time with a new lens, the "nifty fifty"

anywhoo...here is a little something I made afterwards, interested to see peoples comments:

thanks for looking

PS...I know the eyes in the right hand image aren't too sharp - think I missed the focus a little :bonk: maybe I can fix in PS

I really like these.

The close cropping/close up really works.

B+W will always get my vote.

Very nice work indeed.

thanks very much...these are the first pics I've been happy with since getting my 40d so having someone else also liking them is nice

I'm looking to get this on a canvas print and give it to the parents as a gift - any good places to get a canvas print from

Like the pictures mate, and the idea I just think the focus is off on the nearest eye in the dummy picture and maybe this one should be in the middle to balance the overall picture. The middle picture is ace, great detail in the eyes

I've put the pics in that order as in the left hand image she is looking to the left, straight on in the middle one and to the right in right hand side one!

I've not done too much sharpening etc. in photoshop so I might be able to sharpen up the eyes in the right hand side one - I'll give it a go and see what happens.

I had a quick go I think you should have no probs sorting the original this ones a bit noisy, tried a bit of sharpening just on that eye, lean back in your chair a bit you get a better idea!:

Personally, I think they are all too similar... thats not to say its not good work mind :)

This works better for me... http://www.talkphotography.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?t=55065

As they are of the same subject, but different perspectives :)

yes, I saw that one the other day (maybe it subliminally inspired me!) - the only problem I had is that these three pictures were the ones most suited to what I had in mind.

thanks for the comments - if we all liked the same thing, life would be boring!
