Picked it up this morning, not really had a chance to play as back is playing up, managed to get the handstrap and Optech strap wired in though and had a play with 'machine gun' mode, hehe, that makes you smile !

Anyways, on the 40D I always have the centre focus active, I don't seem to be able to get any focus points dialled in, have read the instructions but must be missing something, come to me little red dot :)

Can anyone help ?

I used one for a day but can't remember if it was the same as my mk2?

Which mode is it in ? Ill go and dig mine out of the bag :)

Have you tried pushing the focus point select button does the point light up then ? and can you move around the focus points with the small wheel by the shutter button? Is it set to the ring of fire ? Dont think any focus points light up then, specially not in AI servo !

You will REALLY want to read this as well :) http://www.usa.canon.com/uploadedimages/FCK/Image/2007/MARK%20III%20Suggested%20Settings%20121207/EOS1D_1DsMark_IIIoptimizingAFsettings_Final.pdf

LOL, WTF is the ring of fire ?

Its when all of the outer focus points are lit up, means all of the focus points are active :)

I don't have any focus points lit, thats what is confusing me, will have a re-read of the docs, must be doing something wrong !

press the button top right on the back of the camera, it should light a focus point, then using the little wheel it should move round all of them ?

I know they are well built but I didn't think they were that heavy
