Right then folks - gradually getting through the holiday shots so here's the next batch.....

1) Went out for a walk just a mile to the road-end on our first evening. After all the time in the car we needed a leg-stretch. Rewarded first off with some wonderful clouds.....

2) ....and then with a rather fantastic sunset....

3)

4) The next day and it was a trip to one of our favourite beaches - West beach (Traigh Iar) on the Island of Berneray. It rained a little at first but once it stopped it looked as beautiful as ever....

5) These colourful pebbles caught the eye....

6) Round on the other side of the island we spotted a beached landing craft of some kind. Not sure of the history and so far no amount of googling will turn up any more info! Anyhow, it just screamed mono so I got shooting.....

7)....the flaking blue paint made a nice contrast with the lichen...

8) Finally for now, one of my feathered namesakes....!

Cheers for that - that will have been the Sigma 24-70mm I was having fun with at that stage! :)

4 & 5 for me, love the long sweeping vista in 4, the grasses anchor the image nicely.
5 reminds me of a Joe Cornish image , gorgeous interaction of light/tones/textures.

Good set.

I think no 7 is a great spot on your part and very nicely captured.

Why thank you kindly Sir! I love that beach, and had spent a good deal of the past twelve months planning shot 4!

An excellent set indeed

Cheers - I liked the contrast with the colours. I had to go right round the wreck looking for the "right" bit with the "right" view - the other half was making exaggerated yawning noises by that stage...! :D

Some background for you - much of the southern chain of Islands in the Hebrides has single track roads with passing places - including the main A road that runs from top to bottom for much of its length. Thus "passing place" signs are a bit of a staple in the landscape. The CNES (Western Isles Council) is gradually replacing the old traditional diamond shaped ones with new "improved" square ones - why, I know not, but it does mean that the diamond shaped ones are now becoming increasingly rare. hence the sign, along with one of the wonderful sunsets which are so common in the Hebrides thanks to the clean air and fantastic light, is actually the point of the shot! ;)

:1st: And the prize goes to.....! The only one to spot it! Yep - HDR'd shamelessly - the light can be wonderful, but incredibly difficult over there. the only thing I'm kicking myself about is that I've left the sea looking rather darker than it actually was. Might have to do an edit....!

Thanks all for comments - I may have some more shots to put up yet......!
