Quite a severe edit, but puts the emphasis on your dad I suppose.

Liking the coluor...that looks loads better....not too sure about the other one...makes him look really old??? maybe he is...but that emphasises it.....lol....thankyou for taking the time to help me xx

I am a complete novice, and I used Adobe Fireworks (still learning photo shop), but heres what I did.

1:
I sharpened the photo overall.

2:
I copied the wine bottle and pasted over itself, and sharpened the wine bottle more.

3:
I then flattened all the bits into one image

4:
I copied the image and pasted on top of itself

5:
I cut a soft area out of the TOP photo, which deleted your dad

6:
I then blurred & darkend the top photo

This meant the hole where your dad WAS in the top photo is a window to the photo underneath, were your dad remains in focus and at the correct brightness etc.

For the second shot, I converted to Sepia.
