Don't know if anybody has had this problem with their 40D, whenever I use Auto Exposure Bracketing, then try to reset after use, I don't seem to be able to set to zero, the display always indicates -1 or 2/3. Although I've managed to sort out the problem on several occasions by randomly pressing various buttons and resetting custom functions etc I'm not really sure what's going on. Am I missing something?

Mmmm never had that problem with mine, does it remain if you switch it off then back on again as this clears the setting?

Yes, even tried removing the battery but no joy, I made sure that Exposure Bracketing Auto Cancel was switched on - C.Fn I:4 but made no difference...

Its a long shot, but have you tried a firmware upgrade, might iron out that crease.

Just updated last night, I had the same thought. Time will tell, thanks for your help.

When i had the 40d i just set up AEB / High Speed Continuous Shooting and the other setting i wanted for 'HDR' on the C3 button, made it dead easy to cancel it.

Help! I have the same issue with my AEB. Nothing seems to cancel it. My auto exposure is set to -2/3 and I can't change it. I've fooled with the custom settings, I have the latest firmware, and still nothing. The only solution I have now is to shoot in M mode- but that's just not practical when shooting children's portaits outside- they move too fast!
Can anyone help?

There is a custom function to cancel AEB after use, or retain. Have you checked that?

Are you sure that the 2/3 stop isn't exposure compensation?

How could I have been so blind? It was indeed the exposure compensation and now my two photo shoots scheduled for tomorrow will be a lot less stressful. THANK YOU.
Just so I can assuage my feelings of gross ignorance- I thought it was AEB because when the expos. comp. was set to -2/3, the middle line was always there at -2/3 for AEB, and that's where I thought I should be able to fix it. Anyways, it's all good now. Thanks for your help!
