thanks very much :)
did not think i would get any comments on this one,my flesh hole is only 5mm not sure if i want to go bigger as i dont want to have massive holes in my ears :)
photo was took about 10 mins ago :)
it is a good photo!!
a friend of mine went to 20mm. she loved it at first, then hated the mahoosive holes she had in her ears after, so had surgery to cut the exxess skin off!!
i think the max and i meen max would be 8-10mm over that i think is crazzy...
i have my own detailing and valeting business so i dont want to put my customers off lol
It's an "almost there" shot for me I'm afraid, the shadow caused by the flash is distracting & you could do with introducing a tad more contrast imho. Composition is good & the pose is natural though. I'd recommend using your flash from a different off camera position or just standing further away from the background (or if you don't mind cheating :p you could always just turn the background colour to black)
There's definitely potential for some good portrait photography there though mate, keep at it
thanks very much mike!
how would i change the background to black?im very new to this and not sure how to do things!
again thanks very much!
There are loads of different ways to do this. If you're using photoshop then I'd advise reading up on masking (quickmasks are very very useful - especially for hair selections where the pen tool just won't come near an accurate enough selection!!)
If you have a read through the post processing & manipulation area of the forum then it's full of ideas for you to try & incorporate into your workflow (I've put a link for you check out to give you some ideas ) Just shout out if you need any advice or help

Here's a very quick (very very quick!!) edit with a slightly darker background, your hair could do with a bit of sidelighting to make it stand out from the background but you may hopefully be able to see where I was going with this suggestion

the only editing software i have been using is the one on photobucket lol.
i mite see if i can download photoshop, thanks for posting the link i will have a look:thumbs:
Photoshop is around £600... Photoshop elements is a more affordable version, around £60... or try the Gimp (www.gimp.org) which is free :)
Nice pic, Mike's edit is good too, IMO would look good with more contrast as well
No problem mate, you can download a free trial of Photoshop from the Adobe website or as an alternative you could look into Paint shop Pro, the Gimp (free) or a recent one Dod posted up (I've not seen this one before, is also free!) http://photofiltre.free.fr/download_en.htm
Edit: Quick this morning aren't we Matty, you beat me to it
you can get a free trial of cs3 from
http://www.adobe.com
lasts for 30 days me thinks.
HAHAHAHA!!!
Great minds moomike!

Ok, I'm sure I'm going to regret asking this, but "what's a flesh hole?"

Everyone's entitled to their opinion :bat:
To be honest I think that the background in my version needs to be totally black but as there are no outlining highlights for Ryans hair it made him look a bit like a disembodied head so I lightened it quite a bit
Going darker & experimenting with different flash placement/lighting could generate some really interesting & different results.

It's where you put the flash when you're using it off camera
:exit:
Nah, I think... it's the hole in his ear :)
thanks again for all the good comments and the help.
iv downloaded gimp i will see how i get on with it!
yeah a flesh hole is just a hole in you ear to the size you want, you just make the hole bigger when you want to. its not to everyones taste! :)
