This is my daughter

fist time at trying to get a blown out back ground

sun was directly behind and camera's built in flash

hard trying to keep the face sharp

it was taken down the beach today

Was the sun directly behind YOU or behind your daughter, Graham?

To get a blown out background you really need slightly more light shining ONTO the background than the subject.. then when you meter the subject.. the white background is overexposed.

What was the background btw?

Janice the sun was derictly behind jade
back ground was peebles, sea, bright sky, due to the sun i had the camera set a full exspose i think 2 steps up to help blow the back ground
don,t want to sound daft but what is btw
