Hi,

Edinburgh Airport tonight, I really wanted the sky and the airport is in a bit of an annoying position. Didn't fancy driving to far, so just stopped when I seen it.

Definately need my screens calibrated, the difference on my dual view is crazy :(

Also why are these so noisy? Shot at ISO100 on 50mm f8.

I like it, doesn't look too noisy from here, I like the colours/tones and dramatic sky - (minor niggle could do with a slight straighten as horizon looks a little off)

Otherwise - corker!

Well thank you :D Chuffed you guys like it, I did apply a straighten to the runway, perhaps some more :)

Nice pic Gary. Did you need to push up exposure when you processed the image? You might have introduced some noise at that point if the pic was a ittle under exposed in the camera.

Errr can't remember, possibly. I will have a look, but I think if anything I reduced it??

I don't know if you've done any adjustment to the pic since the first post but the noise does'nt look too bad on my screen Gary, certainly not enought to warrant commenting on it.

Nice pic BTW, where were you standing when you took the shot? I have a good sunset shot somewhere I think looking over the airport. Along at the end of the old turnhouse road and turn right, stop at the railway bridge and look back and it overlooks the end of the runway, it's not too far from where you live. Nice if the planes taking off eastbound and the sun is going down.

Hi Frank,

Have walked past that spot many times and posted an "inidustrial shot" a month back on this site from where you mention.

This shot here was taken from the field opposite the dump, maybe 200 yards before the opening to the dump, basically when you are high enough to get a view.

I definately reduced the exposure on this shot, it looks better on my work monitor. At home I was on the 24" dell I just bought, and I have a feeling its not the same quality and / or settings as the one here.

Do you get out around Edinburgh often with your camera?

Going to draw a quick map with the exact location...

Gary.

Hi Frank:
http://www.dumpt.com/img/files/ovx7rikhj7tzdrrut9bu.gif

I missed a corker of a sky about 2 months back, had taken the dog for a walk without the camera. The sun was literally a giant red ball settling nicely behind the airport, no clouds, just lovely warm colours everywhere. It's the reddest I can really remember seeing the sun since I started paying attention to this sort of thing, almost african looking. Definately a spot I will return to on occassion, I just think it will be winter before that deep red sky comes back :( What do you reckon ? :D

I know exactly the spot your talking about, never went there for a shot though. Had a ccident with a cd last summer and lost lots of photos mostly around edinburgh and they7 had been taken off the HD. Only a couple of decent ones left http://www.talkphotography.co.uk/gallery/showphoto.php?photo=23436&ppuser=3615 http://www.talkphotography.co.uk/gallery/showphoto.php?photo=23430&ppuser=3615 http://www.talkphotography.co.uk/gallery/showphoto.php?photo=23433&ppuser=3615 so I need to start again so to speak. Not been out and about Edin for a while due to a heart attack 6 months ago but will be starting again soon.
