View Full Version : Selective colouring help PSPx2
Hi there. Im sittingn here now trying my hand at selective colouring. I've been getting on fine changing parts of pictures to different colours etc but now im stuck.
I've got a picture of my son. 2 layers, both are in b&w, one has got his left eye in blue and the other has got his right eye in blue.
So how the hell do I know get one picture with 2 blue eyes????? It's driving me mad.
Any help would be very gratefully recieved.

have you a colour image with both eyes blue? if you have you could try desaturating all the individual colour channels but leave the blue one alone.

Yeah i've got the colour image aswell. Trouble is he's standing in a blue box so the desaturating method would also leave the box showing as blue.
Really want to do it by selecting the eyes, making the rest of the picture b&w etc. As much as anything just to learn how to do it.

This works in PSP 8, ( so it should be similar )
Open image, go LAYERS > DUPLICATE.
Convert to B&W with whichever method you prefer.
Go LAYERS > NEW MASK LAYER > HIDE ALL, you should now have a colour image.
select paint brush with foreground colour white and paint where you want Black & white if you make a mistake change brush colour to black and paint over to go back to colour.
I think if you duplicate the colour one then desaturate the copy then use the eraser tool to erase the eyes on the copy (zoom in to do this), you should get the blue eyes.
