It snowed a little bit in Oxford last week. I took a couple of shots, but was disappointed with the overall haul. Shooting snow is tough, but I learned quickly that just because a couple centimeters of snow fall on a building doesn't necessarily mean it's going to yield fantastic photographic opportunities. You really have to find objects and things that tell more than a story of curious weather conditions.

C&C welcomed and appreciated on three of the more decent shots.

Hi Theo,

I prefer snow shots, like you, in black & white.

I cropped number 1, less distrction from the main subject matter, (bench), and adjusted the exposure.

What do you think?

I think I prefer the original of the bench to be honest, without the crop. The space at the top for me gives it room to "breathe", that's the only way i can describe it when I look at it. Without the crop to me it gives a greater sense of loneliness and emptiness. But on the other hand you can see a bit more of the house and it makes me think of everyone being inside in the warm at Christmas and no one going out into the cold. With the crop it feels a bit cramped and lacking interest even though the focal point of the picture is more concentrated on.

I really like the third picture with the expression on the statues face. The snow brings it to life as if it is say "ooh! cold!"

Really like the pictures though. Well done.
