Usually I shoot sports and wildlife shots and I have been wanting to widen my portfolio to include other stuff and also to learn a little more about PS. So.... here is one of my first attempts. I know the sky is blown out and if I could work out how to do it neatly I would add a more dramtic sky.
But what do you guys think?

I know - selective colouring is so last year but I wanted to try it out!
Thanks
Chris

It's nice, but a bit 'busy'. The object of focus (the flowers) despite being a whole different saturation range, is still rather overpowered by the tombs and the cross. Is there a better way to crop it?
Have you tried it with slightly less saturation on the flowers? As it stands, it's a bit out-of-place I think. Maybe you can lower the saturation, but still keep it in focus.

Flowers look like they have been pasted on? Maybe less Ooomph in the colour might help reduce the impact...

The flowers were not pasted on but I do get what your on about, maybe a pastel shade a bit like the red coat in Schindlers list. Perhaps I'll try that.
thanks
Chris
i think this would work better if you converted the whole of the background to mono, as it is it looks as if its been desaturated rather than converted to mono ( i can still see green in the grass) i would convert to mono then push the levels to give it a really dramatic look, the flowers i think as they are would suit the rest of hte image more, and if not a little desaturation of them would work just to calm them down.
Has the potential to be a powerful and poignant image *** well spotted

Agree with Theo. There is a lot going on with several points of interest (Church, Cross, Headstones, and Flowers). Maybe less could be more. Different lighting could help also as tonal wise it's all very flat, and perhaps prompted the selective colouring. This could also work to separate the various elements. Good idea though and you should pursue it further.

Thanks guys - I have got round to desaturation the flowers a bit and you are all right it does look better.
Fiona your right it is desaturated - I was trying to go for a washed out feel with the flowers standing out but i dont think I I got it right.
I have a version that looks better but I'm still not happy with it - I will post when I get something I am a bit happier with.
thanks again,
Chris
