Bristol City vs. Wolves. Today - final score 0-0. Various light due to the stands casting shadows on the pitch. Sell out crowd caused some more tinittus. D3 used with 400mm F2.8 and the 70-200 F2.8. I also engaged the crop mode on the D3 today, which is quite a nice feature. Tricky work overall as the players move from extreme light to shade, which can drop the shutter speed in an instant, so kinda working on the fly....

I'd swear, but I'd probably get beaten up .... those shots are almost enough to make me cry. One day I hope I get good enough to take shots like that.
Awesome work, Pete, especially considering the changing light.
Cracking stuff Pete

Time lord Pete. :D
Superb stuff as usual.
.... And can I also make a bold and possibly daft statement, knowing your stuff well for a year or two now Pete.... I feel those are better, crisper, and have more clarity, detail and depth than ever before.
Why is that and would you agree?

Simple. Forget all the fan boy stuff, but Nikon make better cameras than Canon in the way the produce an image and the D3 is without a doubt the best machine I have ever played with.

Hehe... No doubts anymore then ... Ah yes, thats the ways of the Darkside, its not always obvious why, yet the images keep coming out as ordered.....

Jeez those are some real sharpe shots. The composition of the photographs are fantastic. Looks like the 400mm is a great lens to work with. Great colours and contrast. top work

Quality photos although that somewhat masks the lack of action in a couple of them. Was that really studs in the face in #4 or is that a camera trick?!!
Cracking set of images in my opinion!
Looks like you have already got the measure of the D3.
I am glad you are back!! Always look forward to your sports shots. And I don't even like bloody football!

Not bad, not bad at all! I am not convinced that it was down to the camera though Pete. As good as the D3 is I am going to let you share some of the credit. ;)
