Hi Pokey. I am no expert but looking at these I think you've got a real eye for capturing the action. You seem to have cropped in well on the players. Unfortunately they all seem a little soft, or out of focus. What focus mode were you using on your 400D?

Thanks for the comment:) i was using the A1 servo (i call it tracking) and was switching between 9 point and centre point to see which was best at focusing is that any help:woot:

I tend to stick with the centre point when doing Rugby.

I don't really have much more advice to add rather than stick at it. My first attempt at sports were awful but every time I try and get a few more keepers. If you're noticing your own improvement then your headed in the right direction...

Up your iso from 100 to 400. This in turn will increase your shutter speed and help capture the action. Theres no need for iso 100 (cant remeber ever using that myself) and iso 400 shouldnt degrade the picture if you ahve a good exposure.... Center spot is good.. The faster the shutter speed the better.

Your shooting at f5.6 is that a limitation of your lens.. if not then I would advise not going past f4.

You have the ball in picture. players facing towards you and you seem to be shooting from low down.. All good :) just get the shutter speed up and yer good to go :)

PS losing that god awful avatar would help a lot as well :) :)
