Wow, you two took a lot! Despite the not-too-brilliant weather, it was a great day, enjoyed putting some faces to names (altho forgive me for not remembering who you all are), and thanks to Mike for being the driving force behind the day.
Here's to the next meet!

Hi, thanks for the fantastic turn out
Mike......next time, you need to pay the weather gods a bit more ;)
I apologise if I didn't get to introduce myself....maybe next time
You pair with the huge photo count  I took home 35 images and 5 of those I'm not that happy with due to the fencing showing.
I was testing the performance of my 400L f5.6 today, so checking out it's performance was more important than getting "keepers" today.

What a great day. Just downloaded my shots, I was quite good for me only took 188. Need to trawl through and see whats worth keeping.
Nice to meet up with everyone.
Got back about 7.15pm in the end. Got held up by an accident as soon as I hit the M6. Also managed to find a different route to the motorway to last time. One day I'll come out of there the same way I went in!!
Andrea
 Thanks to everyone, had a great day :p
Special thanks to my taxi Wez, who drove me all the way there and back :D, and to Andrea (staffitaxi) who gave me some headache tablets, my head was killing me
Sorry to anyone I didn't get to say hello to, but I think I've got pics of most of you, so I'll post them soon and you can put your names to them :p

The rain washed all the dust off

It takes some getting used to having a longish prime, composition around the zoo enclosures is difficult with it as your pretty much stuck with the subject and the immediate area. AF was quick and on the whole accurate given the awful weather at times. I managed to shoot at speeds of 1/8000 down to 1/250 (supported). The minimum ISO i used today was 640 i think with some at 3200. Edges and detail were good even at 3200.
On the whole I'm happy with it, i'll be even happier if I can get it out in brighter conditions, i'd have liked a little wider on the ap to get the iso down further......but to do that it's £££££££££££££££££££ and many more Lb to cart around.
as a compromise between length and weight the 400 L f5.6 seems a cracker :)

Hehe, we saw the sign for that accident so i took a different route (stayed on M56 then onto M60), only added 10 minutes onto my journey :)
Great to put faces to some names.
I enjoyed the day despite the weather ... and the distinct lack of animals!!!
Pity I didnt get to meet a few more peeps ... or a few more animals but I guess thats the price you pay for being so fashionably late! ;)

no need for that......:)
Just imagine that your lens was jammed at 400 and then try and make that length work on every shot :D

Not wanting to sound like a broken record but..... I had a great day too, took about 280 pics in total and have about 5 keepers  Will spend most of this week sorting them out and then i'll get some posted.
Nice to meet most of you too!
What time did everyone leave? Me and Laura (the GF) wondered off to the meerkats and then got forced to camp with the Rhinos because the rain go really bad. Was a shame about the weather really, got a few noisy images :( Although I am supprised how well some of the "Jags" turned out inside at 200mm and 1/60th!

^^ You were the bloke with the little lens, right ;) :D
LOL there were a few little lenses there today, which one ? ;)
The one that got that shot of the heron, from about 3 miles away? :D
lol might have been me ;)
Aye was a good meet. I have no idea who I met and walked around with but I had fun :) Took about 350-450 pics. Lightroom says 350 and Finder says 450 so I've got to check that. Lots of marmot pics :D I wish I'd gone for more of a walk in the rain. I got one picture that I really quite like of people walking in it and wish I'd got more.

Just got in. Thanks for a great day guys. Nice to meet you all and put some faces to names. Downloading card now. I took 314 & Liz took 311. Don't know if there are any keepers yet.
think i took about 485 pics, just had a very quick look through the first 100 and got 3 processed so far

I thought the rain had set in about 2.30ish, and said goodbye and came home (only about 20 mins drive). Sure enough, that was the signal for the weather to improve, I was looking out of my window at sunshine the rest of the day!! Perhaps I should have gone back ...!

A good day, bad weather but good company, good to meet you all. Wasted too much time waiting for the Kingfisher at the end of the wooden walkway, did anyone get a shot of it, I didnt even see it but the chap in the camo. jacket & the hat assures me that it is there.!!. Deseered just remind me again how fast that new toy of yours is, 1000 actuations & only pressed the button twice.
A great day & a great bunch of people only sorry that I didn't meet you alll, maybe next time.

Great to meet everyone I did meet (there were many I didn't!). Had a fun day in the rain and well worth the 340 mile round trip! Was a long slog home. Took us 3 1/2 hours in the car and a half hour tea break so we weren't home until 9!
Think I've got some stuff I'm happy with. Lightroom is busy doing previews for me at the moment (16MP seems to slow it down - I need a faster PC!) so hopefully I'll have some time to prepare some stuff. Happy with the jaguars and the ibis/spoonbill set so a good day.
Here's to the next time. Would love to go back in better weather...
Thanks for a really nice day.
Was nice to put names to faces on the forum :).
Like many others, it's a shame I didn't get to meet everyone. To be honest, it's the main thing I go to the meets for, to actually meet everyone :D
I think next time we'll have to have a meet where we can all stick together...lol
I would have loved to have met more of you.
Shame about the lack of animals in the zoo...lol, but the weather wasn't *too* bad in the end, despite quite a ropey start.
I think I only walked away with 140 or so shots (Most of those being marmots :D)

You did well then Paul - we didn't get home till 7.30pm - the traffic was nuts! :gag:
What a pleasant lady Mrs GB is - never saw her without a cheery smile all day.
The weather was bad but I enjoyed meeting all of you .
I was the one with the little lens ;)
^ I thought that was Ian, Captain Jack and Grumpybadger
