I own a 400D, which to be fair, I don't use very often. I find it frustrating how many events wont let you take a half decent camera in

Anyway, so with that in mind (my infrequent use) what lens would you recommend for me, so if I am allowed into a sports event with my 400D, I can get some decent pics?

I borrowed my Dads 70-300m IS USM lens (http://www.cameras2u.com/Store/s52923/0/Lenses/Canon/EF-70-300mm-f-and-4-56-IS-USM/details.aspx?) last year and got some great shots at Brans Hatch. The cheapest I can see that is £315.

Another option I've seen is a Canon EF-S 55-250mm F4-5.6 IS Zoom Lens (http://www.cameras2u.com/Store/s70096/0/Lenses/Canon/EF-S-55-250mm-F4-56-IS-Zoom-Lens/details.aspx?) which is listed at £240 but may be found a little cheaper if I search.

Is there a decent option within Sigma or Tamron? I think Image Stabilization is needed when zooming so far, correct?

Anyway, do, what do you think? Thanks.

Thanks. Hmm, and the 55-250mm for £169 (http://www.microglobe.co.uk/catalog/product_info.php?pName=canon-55250mm-is-efs-f456-lens) from a place in Central London, which I could go to and collect I presume. Is it all Canon lenses you can get cashback on?

Obviously, the 250 doesn't have as much zoom as the 300, but do I really want to pay £130 for that extra 50mm?

Hi Andy, the conversion on a Canon 400D  with the 55-250mm would be 88-400mm
