Just caught the end but they had some chap from Amateur Photographer and the chap from Blacpool who deleted his shots when harassed by a PCSO.

Also mentioned Austin Mitchell.

That's a bit of a bummer ... :suspect: ... and BBC iPlayer does not replay Breakfast shows ...

Thanx for letting us know what we've missed ...

Anyone catch all of it? It would be nice to hear the tone of the piece.

This is all good, really. The more the issue is in the news the less likely officials are to make mistakes.

The tone was that Police and PCSO's are generally ignorant of the rights and wrongs of people taking photographs in public places.

A PCSO told the tog that it was illegal to take pictures without the publics permission.

Then telling about the campain led by the MP to get guidelines issued to the police telling then what they can and can't do.

I was a bit disappointed with the chap from "Amateur Photographer" as I didn't feel he was strong enough about advising togs what do do when in a similar position to the Blackpool chap.

Agree - he was a bit wet.

Simple answer for the PCSO is if you are sure I am committing a crime please arrest me but remember I have told you that I'm not breaking the law and will happily take legal action against you for wrongful arrest.

The PCSO system is so heavily flawed it isn't even funny anymore, they would be better of firing the lot and spending the money on a couple of extra bobbies.

what is PCOS ?

PCSO is Police Community Support Officer.
A person in uniform with virtually no powers and apparently little common sense or understanding of the law.

Oh and they get paid £16-£20k for walking around the streets.

PCSOs are the law enforcement equivalent of Hyacinth Bucket.

missed this which was a shame, i always have BBC Breakfast on in the background normally too. On a similar vein:

Apologies for the annoying camera man although watch to the end it does get quite amusing watching him push his luck!

Just proves even full uniform doesn't often have a clue about the laws they enforce.

Pretty Crap Silly Outfit

Probably Couldnt Spot Offenders

Plenty Cheaper than a Serious Officer

haha - he was pushing it a bit, but loved the line "If you pop back I will print out the laws for you....unless you can get them at the police station?"

PCSO's do not have the power of arrest

I don't think the Police 'don't have a clue', it's damned near impossible to know by heart every single piece of legislation they may need to enforce. That's why lawyers exist.

Incredible really when they try to use the old terrorism chestnut to stop innocent photographers enjoying there hobby, yet there quite happy to let real terrorists walk the streets of London, as they did in the case of Abu Hamza and his cronies who they allowed to preach there hatred for the west for years without doing anything, God only knows how much that cost the taxpayer over the years with police having to stand outside finsbury mosque every Friday keeping there eyes on them while they where allowed to spout their crap, it beggars belief, this country surely must be the laughing stock of the world :cuckoo:

Sorry i don't mean to get political but this s**t really does wind me up like a spring.

I've kept quiet up until now on the subject as i normally try and avoid the politics ;)

but i'm in a pretty good position to tell you my experiences on this.

when i'm not shooting motorsport, my weekday job is taking photos of shops. I shoot about 250 a day in towns inside the M25 and to the West of London.

I do come across CSOs quite a bit and this is how it goes:
They stop me and ask what i'm doing, i politely tell them. We have a polite chat and a bit of a laugh, sometimes they take my description and ask for my ID. After that I carry on with what I'm doing.
Happens about once every 2 weeks.
To be honest I'm quite happy to chat to them and I'm quit happy they have their eyes open.

It gets better, they've just employed 300 anti terrorist officers, if you think someone is behaving suspiciously you call the police and they send out a specially trained officer to poke you in the shoulder ere watcha doin then
