Why oh why oh why....

When I apply un-sharp mask to my photo's they look spot on, then I save them and when I open them back up they've gone all soft again!?!

Its really frustrating - I have to keep going back in, apply what I feel is too much sharpening and re-save them again again....

Please please please can someone explain whats going on!

Question/check #1 in these situations: Are you sure you are uploading the correct photo...?

Lol.. Yes I'm sure I'm uploading the right photo!

I use Photoshop CS2... I'm so sure its not me but honestly I apply the sharpening, it looks fine, I flatten the image, save it and bingo - not half as sharp as it looked before!?!

JPEG compression? Try saving it uncompressed maybe?

I save it as a JPEG - with the highest possible quality not sure about the compression, I dont think I compress it?

I usually save two copies - JPEG for email and Tiff for use...

I flatten the image,

Are you just sharpening one layer?

Try saving it as a PSD file and see what happens. Also try Saving As and giving it a different name, ie add Edit to the file name save in the normal way . See if this makes a diffrence

Try saving it in png (non-indexed) or lzw compressed tiff and check those.
