Just a guess but could it be to do with your security settings being too high so they don't download cookies from here?

What happens if you do that then type the url for the forums in (don't use your saved favourite/bookmark). If it is Ok that way delete your bookmark and save a new one once logged in.

You don't use Norton do you?
It sounds like it's some security setting or software, somewhere on your system, preventing the cookie from being stored.

Try deleting the browser cache, can cure all manner of problems

Me too. But it doesn't always happen, and has only done so in the last couple of weeks. I think it is elapsed time related - so if I close a TP browser window down, if I don't open it again within 10-15 minutes, I'm logged out. Happens with IE6 and Firefox.

Mark

OK

Log out of TP, delete cookies for TP then login at http://www.talkphotography.co.uk rather than the /forums sub directory.

May work

How long *does* it remember your details for? Until you close the browser? 30 mins (with browser closes and reopens etc) etc

Is there a way of viewing the cookies in IE? I never use it so don't really know.

In FF you can view the cookies and my TP cookie expires the 19th Nov 2008

My point is maybe your cookies are expiring within minutes, not really sure how this helps mind you.

I would estimate re-starting Firefox (which isn't set to open with the last-used URL) within 15 minutes would still mean I was logged in, and it certainly stands multiple closes and reopens during that sort of period.

i can sign-in,

then go to "quick links"

then "my posts"

and it will prompt me to sign in again.

i just tried it and it took my less than 10 seconds to do so.

and yes i did check the "remember me" box

Hmm. Just started Firefox, after, what 3 hours, and no log-in needed :bonk:
