Thanks. Just judging by the colours - mine yellow-ish, yours green-ish, I would guess at Willow Warbler and Chiffchaff, respectively. They're obviously closely related. That is all just guesswork, using rspb.org.

Not sure if this helps, or hinders identification! See : http://www.birdwatch.co.uk/website/images/stories/galleries/editorial_features_identification/fullsize/0604

Beak colours would seem to back that assumption up.

if its a chiff chaff the song is very simple, its basically a whistled version of the words chiff chaff:lol:they just repeat this over and over and over:bonk:the willow warbler does a little warble that goes up in pitch and then just fades away at the end,its a bit like a wren's song without the extension on the end, this probly doesnt help matters does it:lol:

lol, both mini warblers are singing like mad at the minute so there's a good chance you will hear him again, remember if its just the 2 notes it'll be a chiff chaff.you could look on the rspb website,i think it has a bird id section on there and some have clips of the birds songs :-) good luck tommorow, jamie

My money's on a Wood Warbler.

Chiffchaff, and Willow Warbler are browner.

Both Chiffchaff and Willow Warbler occur in your area, i dont feel this is either. Def not a Chiffy in my opinion as it has a long primary projection equal to the tertials and the legs are not dark. But it looks a little long and slim in the body for a Willow warbler, so im confused.

I not ower fond of little brown jobs, hope someone can id this for sure.

After looking this up in various books, I'll go with hairy on this, wood warbler.

Does this look anything like it.

Well Jamie, I returned today and took these. There was little chiffchaffing going on and rather a concerted amount of Warbling, there was no sunlight at all today and the pics are straight out of the camera......:D

So I think its a warbler, question is willow or wood.....:cuckoo:

Head a different way.

And a bit of a comedy one......:)

No processing other than border ,sig and resize.

Whilst sitting in a damp Hawthorn thicket, getting a soggy butt, I spotted this:

Any ideas as to what it is please?

I'm sticking with the Wood Warbler; and the other one, I'd say a female Reed Bunting.

I`ll batch rename them as wood warblers, I agree with you......:D

Reed bunting, i`ll check the RSPB site so I know for future.

Can I just say "Thanks" to all who have helped.I don`t know much about birds yet, but love getting out into the countryside to photograph them, it really helps me learn when you people ID them for me.....

Cheers.

They are all Willow warblers Chiffchaffs have dark legs and are slightly more brownish, wing formula is also wrong. Wood warbler has yellow upper chest and white belly also larger than the other 2 species. The other bird is a female reed bunting.
