these little birds are extremely difficult to capture, as they are constantly in motion. think of a pinball on steroids, and you get an idea of how they bounce from one perch to another. they're rarely still for more than a second or two, and usually flit about in thickets or among the small branches of willows, where they're hard to photograph. i'd been trying to get a decent shot of one for over a year, when i came across this female at the park near my home. after watching her for about 20 minutes (and several aborted photo attempts!), she perched on this branch and actually stayed still long enough for the AF to lock on! and more or less out in the open, too! shot with Canon 40D and 100-400L @ 350mm, 1/400 @ f/8...

what an awesome little bird,it reminds me of a zosterop's without the eye ring.
