I am currently in the market for a media storage device.
I was contemplating the Epson p5000, can any one tell me if you are able to export your pictures to a 2.5" external hard drive?
I currently own a wd 320 passport which would be ideal if I was able to export.
I had read you were only able to export to usb sticks due to power issues.
I am primarily concerned that all my photos would be getting stored on one hard drive and wish to be able to back up externally.

I understand the Jobo Giga Vu Pro Evolution can export to a 2.5" however it only supports sd cards with adaptor and also is slightly more expensive.

Thanks for your help.

What you need is OTG support, i dont believe the Epson do this, i have been having exactly the same thoughts recently and the Jobo Giga Vu Pro Extreme 80gb is sounding like a good bet at the moment as it supports OTG

I have investigated further, the Epson P5000 doesn't support 2.5" external drive.
It will export to an external drive, however both the P5000 and external drive has to be plugged in to a power source.:bonk:

This looks like it would do the job also... although it lacks a display to view images.

If you want something fast have a look at the Hyperdrive space.

I have since looked at the Jobo
Giga Vu PRO evolution, this does have on the go back up facility. However this seems to be the same as the epson and can only back up to an external hard drive which has its own power source. They recommend the Giga one as the back up device of choice.
