View Full Version : More Birds.
A couple from this morning. When the sun is shining as it was this morning, I'm forced to shoot right into the light, which is when RAW processing is invaluable.
Female Chaffinch.

The male (and a cracking little Wren) evaded me all morning. :hissyfit:
Bi-sexual :Ponders: Robin.

Both taken with the 100-400L tripod mounted.
That first one is a peach CT. Love the way you caught it with its mouth open, and the sunlight accentuating it.
The second one, maybe a bit more of a crop at the top? The background is quite distracting for me. I think it could be the highlights in it.

Some more excellent captures CT ... Love them both and so finely detailed ! Excellent stuff. In your garden yes ?
The Robin could be female - it is quite hard (possibly even nigh impossible ?) unless you've got two together but is, supposedly all down to the red above the beak and nostrils. On this scientific premise, of course it could just as easily be male !?! ;)

I must admit I had trouble deciding how to crop this one and I'll probably have another go at it. I like the oof highlights - they're from sun on the melting snow, but now that white blob at upper right is really bugging me! :suspect1:

Well if you keep putting food out then they will come. :)

Oh I do, I do ... believe me and it costs a small bl**dy fortune ... but I wouldn't be without them ... especially the hand tame Robins and (nearly the same) Wrens ! :nut:

I'll be there in about an hour :D

Great shots - first is great, second looks a little over sharpened, unless the fringing is just caused by the sun.

Thanks. I thought that about the Robin shot, but I've checked with the RAW file and that's just how it is, I think it's a combination of the background and the strong back lighting.
I think this is my 1st post, but what fantastic picture's.
The bokeh is great & really makes the shots that much stronger :)
