Portrait Lense & Group Shots (Pictures)

Hi all,

I need some advise on a new portrait lens. I have a budget of around 4 & 5 hundred pounds. If any of you guys could recommend a lens including pics that would be fantastic. O' I nearly forget to mention its going on a D3.

i can recommend the nikon dx 18 - 70 but maybe a lense with a better than f3.5 with that amount of money

Why recommend a DX lens for a D3?

For the OP, you've gone and spent £3k on a D3, why compromise on the lens? Double your budget and get the AF-S 24-70mm f/2.8G ED Jessops currently have a discount code (LENS10) which will give you 10% off their list price bring it down to £990. Thats if they've got any of the 70-200's! When I looked a while ago nowhere had them.. I got Jessops to look at their entire stock and the only place that had one was a store in Newcastle!

Managed to get one from Mifsuds in the end :D
