Sensor cleaning kit

Got a fairly dusty sensor with a couple of spots that can't be shifted with a blower. Actually blower seems to have made it slightly worse :p!

Expensive for what you get. Sammy - if you are going to use the Copperhill method then I would highly recommend http:///www.pbase.com/copperhill/image/46845039 (http://www.pbase.com/copperhill/image/46845039) . Read his whole article as well. It's a Swiss company that has European rights and they deliver very quickly. Personally I wouldn't trust the Ebay ones. HTH.

Sammy - Steve's already answered but - I paid 79 SF which on my card came out at just about £35. And you get enough to last your lifetime, or at least the camera's.

Thanks Boon and Stepheno! I've put an order in for that, cost me £43 inc. P&P which is not bad I 'spose considering it'll last me for two years even if I clean once a week!

I get the copperhill from them a few weeks ago, I only use it once in my sensor (Canon 20D) and It works pretty well! I remove son dust particles on it that where showing when I shot sky or other things at f/11 or f/16 or f/22

I highly recommend the copperhill.

Had to Laugh...dropped my kit into Nikon on monday for a clean. Big notice on the wall saying that due to the huge number of people getting sensors cleaned they're now forced to charge £16 for the service.
Notice then goes on to say that "due to the nature of the cleaning process, all dust particles may not be removed..."


So... I'll do it myself then, shall I? LOL

First pass on the sensor, after reading, and reading, and reading, and reading the booklet instructions and the web page of copperhill I was really scared hehehe :confused:

But after the first pass, and I see it was easy and safe.. I got confidence, and now my sensor is clean.

Here in Mexico, is the same and very very expensive, i have to pay 1500 pesos (like 150 usd!!! :nut: ) to Canon for cleaning my sensor. And they not guarantee that all the dust wil be removed. NEVER! I prefer taking the risk and clean it at home.

Well just did mine, fairly easy but it took four attempts to get it free of splodges rather than just having them moved around!

Time to get onto that monthly compo now!!!

I find there no predicting how many goes you need. Sometimes its clean in two swipes... one time it took 9 goes.

I use 2 bits of flexible PVC I cut from a new door curtain as the chisels and just wrap each one with a pec pad and put one drop of eclipse on it. Total cost was about £13 :) . Still got loads of pads and full bottle of eclipse.
