All pretty good Janice, not too keen on the close up of the greenfinch(?), but the others are good.....
Robin is pick of the bunch for me.....
They're lovely, especially the Blue Tit - such tiny birds and full of character.

Don't see anything wrong with any of them. not easy photographing garden birds as they rarely stay still.

PS Its good fun watching them from a hide. They can be like kiddies squabbling amongst themselves. Greenfinches are particularly agressive. I have a woodpidgeon that comes in and will scare all the other pidgeons away. Recently had a blackbird with totally white head and nape but waiting for it to appear again so that I can photo it. Unfortunately having problems with trying to put pics on the forum just now but enjoy looking at other peoples.
My good firend sawman has just built me a hide for my forrest location and it is absolutley brilliant.
Don't know if you were like me Janice, I sat trying to get them out of the window, and not very successful at times either, plenty of greenfinches and goldfinches but not landing where I wanted them,
Good set anyway and I like the chaffie best as much under rated of the bird world I think.

What lens/settings did you try when clicking these lovely birds Janice?

Hi Dunedin hope you dont mind me making a suggestion but I have been photographing birds in the garden for quite a while now and I find the best way to encourage them is to limit the number of feeders say even to one and erect a perch just beside it. What usually happens is that the birds will land on the perch before going to the feeder especially if there are birds already on the feeder. That way you can focus on the perch in readiness for a bird to land. Sure as hell though they will change there mind a land elsewhere but usually it does work. I then replace any other feeders after completing the shoot.
Thanks guys.
With these I was sitting just inside my open conservatory door with the tripod up and the Canon 70-200L lens on, so I wasnt hidden in any way.
I put the bird table about 3 feet from a tree.. .and a branch/stick from tree to table.
They first land in the tree to suss out the surroundings... then they hop onto the branch and have another little look about... and that's where you get 'em!!!
Just make sure the branch is parallel to the plane of your camera to get your best dof.

i try to keep it to F3.5, Chouglez, and if the background is a fair bit away it gives a nice oof back to the photo
must be a secret there Janice :) very nice set :)
Great set Janice 1 & 4 for me
Excellent as usual Janice - I haven't got a long telephoto yet, but I spent some time today watching the little blighters. They only seem to spend a couple of moments on any branch, but a long time on the feeders ( doesn't make a good shot ) Seems like I will need to build a conservatory to get shots like yours - lol . I'll carry on fattening them up in readiness for the new lens !

No I dont have IS. I consider if the bird moves, then IS is of no use whatsoever!! and if you have shakey hands.. use a tripod!

First and third for me, really good opportunistic shots, with good light.
