Round 2 of the new Toyota Sprint Series was on Sunday. Another airfield, so mostly flat and uninteresting, with a few cones thrown in...

Toyota Corolla with Celica GT4 drivetrain - won fastest time of day

Toyota Celica ST165 on the starting line

Toyota Starlet KP70 with 4A-GE engine. Guy was fabulous to watch - spent more time looking out of the side windows than the windscreen

Should I stay or should I go? He missed me, but hit a bollard.

Plus a lot of Celicas of various descriptions, a couple of Starlet Turbos, half a dozen MR2's, an ordinary Aygo and a supercharged one, and a Sera.

Didn't rain but it was overcast all day.

Nice shots. How did the Aygo go? Love that Starlet.

The Aygo was a real surprise. The 450bhp 4wd Corolla posted a 53.44 second run. The Aygo posted a 62.45 and didn't come last - in fact it beat two Auris SR180 driven by invitation drivers from Max Power and other magazines, an MR2 turbo, a Supra, a Celica GT4 and a few others. It came 39th out of 53.

I take that is down to it being light and nippy. Just shows power isnt everything.

Exactly. What it lost down the straights it could carry through the corners, many of which were quite tight so the bigger cars had to be very precise.
