Hello Ladies & Gents

I have got 1 sigma zoom 28 - 200mm f3.5 - 5.6 & 1 sigma DL zoom 75 - 300mm lenses when I put them on my 350d camera's they work inside my house but when I try to use them outside i get err99 on my camera. I have migrated these lenses over from my film setup.

can you please explain what the problem might be.

Gordon

I had a sigma lens from the film days that would do that on a digi eos. It was fine when the aperture was wide open but stopped down at all, all you got was error 99.

As far as I can remember, there are some older sigmas that don't work on digi cameras. :(

You can send them back to sigma for "rechipping" so they do work with digital, although how much it costs I'm not sure, might not be worth it

have you tried cleaning the contacts?

Older Sigma lenses will often give ERR99 codes on Canon digital bodies - this is apparently due to Sigma reverse engineering the Canon system and not knowing all the facts.

Sigma can re-chip some lenses, but not all.
