View Full Version : SIGMA 70-300mm F4-5.6, help a newbie!
Hi everyone, been here a while but never posted, until now.
I recently got my first dslr, 450d, all very nice but looking for a lens now. I can't afford any of the canon L lens', so I've been looking for more of a budget lens, been looking at this sigma, just want some reassurance before I make my purchase.
thanks alot

Well I had it as my first telephoto lens, as many many others have, for the price its a great lens and I was happy with it for quite a while, years infact.

Before you push the button on the sigma, you might just want to check out this lens - Canon EF-S 55-250mm f4-5.6 IS, it is a bit more expensive, but most people seem to think it's a cracker for the money.

If you're looking at the Sigma, make sure you get the APO version - commonly held as the king of the budget zooms round these parts :)
As said. Great budget zoom, i bought mine as a stop gap until i can afford a 70-200, but i still love it.

Hiya,
Sigma 70-300 is a great start to telephoto lens' - it does quite nicely as a pseudo macro as well.
I've got one for sale if you are interested - I am only selling because I don't use it now I have a 100-400.
Cheers
Rob
Thanks for your replies, it came today, looks ok so far, not given it a real go yet, looking forward to the weekend now
