We recently spent two weeks in Puerto Rico, going to old San Juan (a number of times), Vieques (including Sun Bay), El Yunque (the tropical rain forest),Guanica (includng Gilligan's island), the Horned Dorset hotel in Rincon and the radio telescope at Arecibo.

For those who haven't been to Puerto Rico, here's some shots from our first afternoon in old San Jaun.

We left the car park, turned left and came to this building - it's big and therefore a bank.

We turned up this street with the typical buildings painted in different colours.

Old San Juan is set on a very pronounced hill as the top of the street shows.

There are plenty of statues in old San Juan, this is one of the quirkier ones.

The fort of El Morro guards the entrance to the harbour.

This turret is the popular icon that Puerto Ricans use as a short cut to knowing something is from Puerto Rico

I spotted the bobbies in pursuit of a criminal - hard work if you can get it.

A view of the interior of the isalnd with a turret in the foreground of course.

I hope this gives a brief impression of an old town in the New World.

I have pasted in new URLs to flickr to bring the picture size under 800 pixels.

Nice sunny spot, looks like a place I'd love to visit myself.

You might want to size those images down before the forum mods declare jihad on you though ;)

Thanks, I'll do that when I get back from the Botanic Gardens. It is a very sunny spot, average temperature in the 80s all year round. In the Autumn, Winter and Spring the humidity falls while in the Summer it is unbearable.
