In Stratford recently for Shakespeare's 444th birthday celebrations. Here are some of the participants in the parade, and some of the locals watching.

1. Hamlet with a character I don't recognise.

2. Waiting for the parade to begin.

3. watching the parade.

4. I grabbed a candid shot of this old man in his doorway, with compact camera, photgraphing the parade. He spotted me, so I took this better composed pic. He then took one of me - fair exchange!

5. Two from a group of singers in the cathedral. I just loved the little guy's expression and lovely smile, but had to wait ages and take many shots before I captured it.

6. Quite a contrast - these two lads were admiring the Harley Davidsons parked by the river.

C&C appreciated, as always.

Thanks for looking.

Thats a pretty cool and varied set.

My faves are #5 & #6.

#5 for the same reasons as yourself (what a sweetie)

& #6 for the expressions (nicely exposed too).

I love Stratford, its one of my regular haunts and yet I rarely come back with pics, so nice to see these!

Thanks very much indeed, Ladybird.

Any idea who the older guy is? The young buy is Hamlet, isn't he??? With Yorick's skull?? My knowledge of Shakespeare is shocking!

Could be Horatio I guess?

HAMLET

Let me see.

Takes the skull
Alas, poor Yorick! I knew him, Horatio: a fellow
of infinite jest, of most excellent fancy: he hath
borne me on his back a thousand times; and now, how
abhorred in my imagination it is! my gorge rims at
it. Here hung those lips that I have kissed I know
not how oft. Where be your gibes now? your
gambols? your songs? your flashes of merriment,
that were wont to set the table on a roar? Not one
now, to mock your own grinning? quite chap-fallen?
Now get you to my lady's chamber, and tell her, let
her paint an inch thick, to this favour she must
come; make her laugh at that. Prithee, Horatio, tell
me one thing.

HORATIO

What's that, my lord?

HAMLET

Dost thou think Alexander looked o' this fashion i'
the earth?

HORATIO

E'en so.

It's beautiful language, isn't it?
