I'm another site newbie. Just bought my first DSLR (400D) having previously had a Canon Powershot S3. Any tips on how best to get to grips with my new camera?

As regards tips on using your new camera, just get out there and take pictures.

If you then encounter problems then read the manual!!

Best way is to use it!

When you are not under pressure to get the shot use Av mode and later Tv and M. Once you can use those and understand why, you can forget the auto modes and take photos where you are in control.
