canon 400d

Hi all ..
New to the world of photography.. and have just bought a canon 400d ...
What i want to know is.. will a Sigma 70-210mm lens . fit this camera..
A friend has one .. i supose i could just try it , but he only mensioned it today.
So before i get my hopes up .
Can anybody help..

So. if it is off a canon camera it should fit..i think its off a 35mm slr.
not a digital..

aha more data
it will probably work at maximum aperture
but may give ERR99 if you try it stopped down

it depends how old the lens is

some can be re-chipped by Sigma
some can't (or at least they won't do it)

so - give it a try - at full aperture and stopped down

just phoned my friend ..
he said the camera the lense is off is a canon eos 500n
what do you think
